Each year Michaud LeBel welcomes one or two articling students, helping them develop their know how.

The work assigned to an articling student is structured so that he may become familiar with the research tools and operation of a law office within the first few weeks. He is gradually assigned various research tasks and drafting procedures, as well as other tasks. These assignments are part of active files so that the work performed will have a direct impact on the outcome of pending litigation.

The articling student is also called on to act before the courts, whether it be at the hearing role call or when presenting or contesting motions. He may also be called on to assist one of the attorneys in complex cases in order to be aware of the aspects involved in that type of case.

During his time at the firm, the articling student will have daily support and coaching from the attorneys. He is encouraged to get involved in the files and to have initiative. Finally, periodic meetings are scheduled to discuss the articling and to ensure that sufficient knowledge, skills and assurance are acquired over time.

Finally, we wish to offer the articling student the possibility of having an "on hands" experience with all aspects of an attorney's work and to contribute to making him independent and efficient in the exercise of his profession.
